The 2020 Oscar Award ceremony is held on 10 February. Many films and actors won awards in these. The Oscar Awards were first given on May 16, 1929. 1. Mother India


Mother India was the first Indian film for an Oscar. Mother India was nominated in the year 1958. Although the film did not win the award, it was widely praised in the world. It was nominated in the film Best Foreign Language. The film was directed by Mehboob Khan and released in 1957.

2. Salaam Bombay

In the year 1989, another Indian film named 'Salaam Bombay' was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars. The film was directed by Meera Nair. The film was based on the bitter reality of Mumbai, the financial capital of the country. The film received the National Award for Best Hindi Film at that time.

3. Lagaan

The film Lagaan, directed by Ashutosh Gowirkar, was a blockbuster film of the time. It was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars in 2002. Aamir Khan was in the lead role in this film. However, the film was also not able to win an Oscar.
